Walter K. Whitehead (1937 – 2026)

Walter K. Whitehead, 88, of Upper Saucon Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at Traditions of Hanover. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Cecil) Whitehead, who passed away on Sept. 17, 2017. Born in Allentown on Oct. 27, 1937, Walter was the son of the late Walter G. and Mary E. (Funk) Whitehead. Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, during peacetime. He was employed as a Maintenance Mechanical Technician, working for Pillsbury in Allentown for 20 years until his retirement, and also for Fairtex Mills, Allentown. Walter was a true “jack of all trades.” He enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating, and had a lifelong passion for gardening, especially growing vegetables. He also built his family home; a testament to his skill, dedication and love for his family.
SURVIVORS
He is lovingly survived by his children: David K. Whitehead, Allentown, Patricia A. Whitehead-Woodley, Hanover Township; brother: Thomas P. (Carol) Whitehead, Breinigsville; grandchildren: Jennifer M. (Cory) Musselman, David L. Whitehead; great-grandchild: Riley Musselman.
SERVICES
Family and friends are invited to his visitation period on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown. The visitation period will be followed by a service at 12 p.m. Interment will conclude services at Arlington Memorial Park, Allentown, where military honors will be accorded.
