Freezing Rain Possible Tuesday Night
If you’re planning to travel anywhere Tuesday evening, forecasters say you should be on the lookout for ice.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Northampton and Lehigh counties for the possibility of light freezing rain between 6 p.m. and midnight.
According to an advisory statement, a light glaze could make sidewalks, roads and bridges slippery.
“If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks and driveways,” it said. “These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.”
Any ice that accumulates overnight should melt on Wednesday, when highs are expected to be in the upper 30s for the first time in several weeks.
The forecast for the Allentown area for the rest of the week includes temperatures that are close to normal for this time of year. The next chance of precipitation is expected Sunday, when rain and/or snow is possible, according to the forecast.
