Barbara A. Check (1933 – 2026)

Barbara A. Check, 92, formerly of Hellertown, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at Holy Family Senior Living, Bethlehem. Born in Fountain Hill, PA on Aug. 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George B. and Anna (Baran) Hartsell. Barbara worked as a receptionist for Manpower Inc. of Bethlehem from 1996 to 1997. Prior to that, she was a sales representative at the Bon-Ton in the Westgate Mall and the former Hess’s department store for seven years, retiring in 1996. She also faithfully served her community as a Judge of Elections for the 3rd Ward in Hellertown for the past 25 years. She was a devoted member of the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown. Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed making jewelry, sewing, cooking and traveling.

SURVIVORS

She is survived by her children: Robert D. Check of Allentown; Michael A. Check of Hellertown; Eileen M., wife of James Culver, of Allentown; Cheryl Anne Check of Allentown; and MaryElizabeth Driscoll of Richlandtown. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Rinker; her grandson, London; and her brothers, Lawrence V. Hartsell and George B. Hartsell.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown’s Memorial Garden.
