Rudolph David ‘Rudy’ Blomstrom (1935 – 2026)

Rudolph David “Rudy” Blomstrom, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. He was the beloved husband of Deanne P. (Pfeiffer) Blomstrom, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage this past July. Born in Bethlehem on Sept. 10, 1935, Rudy was the son of the late Rudolph A. and Velma (Fritz) Blomstrom. He graduated from Liberty High School and earned a degree in English from Moravian College. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during peacetime from 1955 to 1957. Rudy dedicated 30 years of service in various positions at Bethlehem Steel Corporation, retiring as Manager of Human Resources at Homer Labs. He continued his active professional life as owner of Outdoor Life Sporting Goods in Bethlehem for four years. Rudy worked in construction and later became a partner in Oak Tree Realty. A true Renaissance man, Rudy embraced life fully and passionately. Rudy was the manager of the “Big City Music Band” in the late 60’s and 70’s. He had also continued with stage and sound equipment at the Roxy Theatre, Northampton. Rudy played baseball in the Patriot League. He had a deep appreciation for photography and found great joy in hunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors, accomplished wine making, wood carving, inquisitive mind and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
SURVIVORS
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lori D. Blomstrom and her wife Kimberly Kannenberg of Easton, and Wendy B. Gross and her husband Robert of Hellertown; two grandchildren, Kayleigh (Kasey) Kromka and Erik (Kealana Meindl) Gross; and one cherished great-grandson, Bodhi Kromka. He was predeceased by his sisters, Doris Toohey and Rhoda Kirby.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown.
