Lower Saucon Putting Defibrillators in 7 Parks
When someone is having a heart attack, mere seconds can mean the difference between life and death, which is why timely medical intervention is critical.
In Lower Saucon Township, park visitors who experience a cardiac event in the future will have access to quicker treatment thanks to a plan to place defibrillators in cabinets in seven of the township’s parks. According to the winter 2026 edition of the Lower Saucon Township newsletter, those parks are Polk Valley Park, Steel City Park, Southeastern Park, Town Hall Park, Heller Homestead Park, the Easton Road Ballfields and the Reading Drive trailhead on the Saucon Rail Trail.
Some of the money for the project is from a Northampton County grant, officials said.
In related news, the township announced that a prefabricated concrete bathroom is going to be installed at the Reading Drive trailhead in the near future. Funding for the restroom includes $125,000 the township received from a Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Local Share Account statewide grant.
Township officials also reported that 42 new benches will be installed to replace existing benches at Town Hall and Southeastern parks, after money for them was included in the 2026 budget.
Lastly, the township shared that a project to renovate the walking trail at Polk Valley Park and control stormwater there is ongoing.
“This project is utilizing secured funding from PA DCNR and Northampton County,” officials said in the newsletter article. “We will announce all construction that will be taking place, in advance, through our normal communication methods.”
For residents who are planning to host events at one of the township park pavilions this summer, reservations can now be made by completing the form available on the township’s website or at Lower Saucon Town Hall.
