Attempted Communication Line Theft Investigated
State police say they are investigating an attempted wire theft that occurred earlier this week in upper Bucks County.
According to a news release from the Dublin barracks, troopers were called to Mountain View Drive in Nockamixon Township around 4:18 a.m. Sunday for the reported theft attempt.
“A witness saw a dark color truck pull up to the area where downed communications lines were previously stolen,” it said. “Two individuals exited the truck and walked towards the downed communications lines.”
Police said that when the witness reported hearing “what sounded like a cutting tool…he yelled, causing the individuals to run into the woods.”
They added that “the witness believes no additional communication lines were taken.” However, police said their investigation is ongoing.
Communication lines are a frequent target of thieves due to the copper and other valuable metals they often contain.
The release listed the owner of the lines as Frontier Communications of New Holland.
