On Saturday the Little Panthers took on the tough Catasauqua Rough Riders at Dimmick Park. It was Week 4 of the Colonial League Youth Football League; the fourth week of eight regular season games.
This season the Saucon Valley youth coaches are, once again, recognizing the efforts of their boys and girls as they participate in the football and cheerleading experience. Saucon Source is proud to be partnering with the coaches to share the kids’ successes this season with you!
Football recognizes a player, or players, every week with a “Panther Pride” award. The cheer coaches choose deserving girls and identify them with a “Panther Spirit” award.
The recognition of the kids can relate to anything from effort or enthusiasm to the acknowledgement of a great performance. Maybe the award will be for being a good teammate or volunteering their time. It can be for any number of positive things!
The awards are meant to be a fun and special way for the coaches to show their appreciation for the hard work and dedication the boys and girls invest in the football and cheer programs.
Here we go with this week’s awards!

FLAGS
Game Summary: The Panther Flag team had another great showing this week against Catasauqua. The team was led by Drew Hamman and Trevor Weidner. Drew was stout on the offensive line paving the way for the running backs to break off huge runs. He also came in on defense and played a part in keeping the Rough Riders out of the end zone during the second half. Trevor also came up big both on offense and defense. On offense from his fullback position he made some key blocks. He also contributed by running the ball. Defensively, he stepped up when called upon and did not allow anyone outside of him from his cornerback position. All in all, the Flag team is enjoying a fantastic season and playing great as a team!
- Panther Pride: Drew Hamman and Trevor Widenor

- Panther Spirit: Natalie Carberry and Autumn Rain Steten

90 POUNDERS
Panther Spirit: Jadalynn Mertus and Kyleigh Opdyke

110 POUNDERS
Game Summary: The 110’s dropped a tough one to the Catasauqua Rough Riders on Saturday. The Panthers were in the game late in the 3rd Quarter and driving deep into Catasauqua territory, however, they turned the ball over to the Roughies. Catty scored late to pull ahead and seal the victory.
Coach Wolfe recognized Eli Torres for his hard-running style and Joe Peterson for his solid offensive and defensive line play. With bruisers like these, the Blue Bombers of Palmerton better beware!
- Panther Pride: Joseph Peterson and Eli Torres

- Panther Spirit: Zoe Jezick and Anessa Rodriguez

130 POUNDERS
Game Summary: The Panther 130’s remain unbeaten and sit at 4-0 with a gut-check performance over the Catasauqua Rough Riders. The Panthers IMPOSED THEIR WILL upon Catty along the way to a 12-6 Saucon triumph. Josh Torres ran hard for two first half TD’s that were good enough to seal the win against the tough and explosive Rough Riders.
Tyler Pfizenmayer, Landon Beckoswki and Connor Nicholas got Catasauqua’s attention with their hard hits. With so many people doing their jobs and making so many valuable contributions, the 130’s staff decided that it was a true team victory!
- Panther Pride: Coach Schneider said it was a TOTAL team effort!

- Panther Spirit: Kayla Staub
