Residents who want to have a say in determining the future of fire services in Lower Saucon Township are being invited to apply to fill two seats on a Fire Service Executive Committee that is being formed.

Approved for formation with the adoption of an ordinance last month, the committee will act as a liaison between Lower Saucon Township Council and Lower Saucon Fire Rescue, which is the volunteer fire company that serves the township.

In addition to two citizens at large, the seven-member committee will include the president of Lower Saucon Fire Rescue, the Lower Saucon Fire Rescue fire chief, the township manager or their designee and two council members.

According to a township email, “the council seeks individuals willing to serve on the Fire Service Executive Committee who specifically have working knowledge of emergency services as well as strategic and long-term financial planning backgrounds with non-profit organizations.”

“The hope (with the committee) is to establish both short and long-term strategies for fire protection services for the township,” the email said.

A form that is available online must be completed and submitted to Carol Schneider, Administrative Assistant, Lower Saucon Township, 3700 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem, PA 18015 or c.schneider@lowersaucontownship.org by Thursday, May 22.
