Hellertown Pair Accused of Dealing Drugs Via the Mail
Two men from Hellertown are facing felony drug-related charges for allegedly selling drugs by mail.
According to a Hellertown Police Department news release, 20-year-old Caleb Alexander Giles and 20-year-old Evan Matthew Leibert “were facilitating the delivery of controlled substances through the United States Postal Service.”
Police said drugs seized from the men after search warrants were served on packages in their possession included fentanyl, nitazene, ketamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, LSD, marijuana and several controlled substances available by prescription.
Scales and packaging materials were also seized, they said.
According to the news release and court records, both men are charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substances (felony), Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substances (felony), Criminal Use of a Communication Facility (third-degree felony) and Possession of a Controlled Substance (misdemeanor).
Police described the charges as “initial charges” and said “Giles and Leibert will be facing additional charges based on the results of the search warrants executed after their arraignment.”
According to the news release, the men were arrested June 5 as a result of a joint investigation conducted by the HPD, United States Postal inspectors and agents from the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.
Police said they were taken into custody “without incident.” They were arraigned before District Judge John Capobianco, who set each man’s bail at $100,000 cash. As of Monday, Leibert and Giles were incarcerated at the Northampton County Prison.
According to the dockets filed in the case, they are scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing before District Judge Alan Mege on Monday, July 7 at 1 p.m. in Northampton County District Court 03-2-04 in Lower Saucon Township.
Giles is being represented by attorney Molly Heidorn of Easton. No attorney was listed on the case docket for Leibert.
