Coopersburg Printing Co. Closing After Nearly 60 Years in Business
After nearly six decades in business, a Coopersburg printing company is closing its doors in response to the changing marketplace for printed materials.
“Rising costs and a rapidly contracting market for non digital publishing have forced the closure of a number of print related businesses in both the production and publishing sectors,” Chernay Printing Inc. Board Chair Laura Ward said in a news release about the decision. “Sadly, our Coopersburg facility has become one of those casualties.”
Located at 7483 S. Main Street, on the edge of the borough, Chernay Printing was founded by Paul Chernay in 1966.
“Chernay Printing grew to be one of the largest offset printing companies in the mid-Atlantic region, serving clients across the country and abroad,” the release said. “It remained a family-owned and family-oriented business throughout the decades, with third-generation leadership and numerous long-tenured employees.”
Chernay Printing said it will continue to operate until its current orders are fulfilled. Questions about the closure of the business may be directed to CEO Lisa Arnold at 610-282-3774Â ext. 104 or larnold@chernay.com.
“It has been a privilege for my family to operate our business in this community,” Arnold said. “We are immensely grateful to our longstanding and loyal customers for their decades of support, entrusting their printing needs to the hardworking employees of Chernay Printing.”

The release did not indicate how many employees would be affected by the company’s closure.
According to market research conducted by the company Smithers, the U.S. printing industry is expected to be negatively impacted by recently-enacted tariffs, which it said could result in the loss of more than 1,000 companies by 2030.
