A century ago, in a special full-page, illustrated story published on Nov. 5, 1922, The Allentown Morning Call proclaimed Coopersburg “the Town of Possibilities.” But 100 years earlier it wasn’t known as Coopersburg and was little more than “a country village.”

Olden Days: Saucon Valley School District Has Humble Origins

Before 1953, Hellertown borough and Lower Saucon Township operated separate school systems. A joint school system existed from 1953 to 1966, when the Saucon Valley School District was created. To accommodate a tremendous increase in enrollment after World War II, more than $8 million was spent on new schools and additions in Saucon Valley between 1957 and 1971.
