Every Wednesday, neighbors, staff and patients of the Star Community Health Sigal Center and St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Campus in center city Allentown have convenient access to healthy, fresh produce and other nutritious foods thanks to a partnership with the Kellyn Foundation and their mobile market.
On this episode we’re happy to welcome Kellyn Foundation co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Meagan Grega, MD. Launched nearly 15 years ago, the Kellyn Foundation is having a positive impact on local communities through its various initiatives designed to help families "make the healthy choice, the easy choice."
School gardens also help to teach children valuable gardening and agricultural concepts as well as skills that integrate with several academic subjects. When children are able to grow their own vegetables, they are more likely to eat them.
On Feb. 26 Just Born Quality Confections representatives presented St. Luke's University Hospital-Bethlehem with a check for $5,000 to support the Mobile Market Voucher Pilot Program, a new St. Luke’s Healthy Living Initiative developed in partnership with the Kellyn Foundation.
