Rt. 378 Reopened After Fatal Crash

UPDATE: As of 8:40 a.m., readers are reporting that Rt. 378 has reopened.

Lower Saucon Township Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a tractor-trailer and an SUV on Rt. 378 between Seidersville Road and the Saucon Square shopping center.

In a news release issued early Friday, police said the accident happened at 12:46 a.m., and had closed the busy section of north-south road.

The victim or victims in the accident have not yet been named.

Police said Rt. 378 in the area of the accident would remain closed throughout the morning rush hour as they continue to investigate the accident. Motorists should use alternate routes, police said.

Lower Saucon Township Police are being assisted in the investigation by the Northampton County Coroner’s Office, the Bethlehem Police Department, Se-Wy-Co Fire Co., Dewey Fire Co. No. 1 and Upper Saucon Township Volunteer Fire Co.
