Giant Food Stores announced a voluntary recall of two different types of nacho sauce Wednesday, due to an undeclared allergen on their ingredient labels.

The undeclared allergen is wheat, and the products are safe to consume for anyone who isn’t allergic to wheat, the company said in a news release.

The recalled items are:

  • Salpica Ballpark Nacho Sauce, 8 oz., UPC 60418332090 with best by dates of 9/12/14, 9/19/14, 10/8/14, 10/29/14 and 12/21/14.

  • Salpica Ballpark Blackbean Nacho Sauce, 8 oz., UPC 60418332092 with best by dates of 9/12/14, 9/19/14, 10/8/14, 10/29/14 and 12/21/14.

“Giant/Martin’s has received no reports of illness to date,” the company said, but added that “people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.”

Customers who purchased the nacho sauces under recall should discard unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to any Giant to receive a full refund, the news release stated.

More information about the recall is available by calling the manufacturer, Riba Foods, at 1-800-327-7422 or the Giant customer service line, 1-888-814-4268.

Locally, there is a Giant Food Store at 1880 Leithsville Road, Hellertown. That store’s telephone number isĀ (610) 838-3007.
