Cable TV Discount Available to Qualified Lower Saucon Seniors, Veterans

Est. Read Time: < 1 min

Lower Saucon Township residents who qualify as veterans or low-income senior citizens (age 65 or older) are eligible to receive a discount on their cable TV subscription from local service provider Service Electric, because of an operating agreement between the township and the cable company.

According to a press release recently posted on the township’s website, the discount is for $2 off Service Electric’s Lifeline Cable Service or $4 off its Full Channel Lineup Cable Service monthly rate.

To qualify for the discount:

1. The applicant’s name must be on the account.
2. The applicant must be the head of the household.
3. The applicant must be 65 or older, and must provide proof of age.
4. The applicant must provide proof of income eligibility by submitting one of the following documents: Supplemental Security Income, Veterans Service Benefits, PACE or PACENET Medical Card, Medicaid Medical Card

The discount is not applicable to promotional rates, currently discounted rates and/or bundled services.

Each subscriber must annually fill out and return to Service Electric a form that includes their Social Security Number and signature.

For more information about the discount program, or to request the form you are required to complete, call Service Electric at 1-800-232-9100.

Discounts like the one in Lower Saucon Township are available based on the terms of the operating agreements between cable providers and individual municipalities, however they are not always well-publicized by either the companies or the municipalities, a 2009 Morning Call Watchdog report by Paul Muschick indicated.
