Spicy Black Bean Burger Recall Announced

Following a recall by Morningstar Farms, Giant Food Stores announced Sunday that it has removed from sale Morningstar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burgers, which are sold in the frozen foods department.0002898939207_500X500

The burgers have been recalled because they may contain peanuts, an allergen not listed on the ingredient label.

The products are safe to consume for individuals who do not suffer from a peanut allergy.

The following products are included in the recall:

  • Morningstar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burgers, 18.9 oz., UPC 2898971750, with a Better if Used Before Date of APR14 16 – JUN30 16
  • Morningstar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burgers, 9.5 oz., UPC 2898939207, with a Better if Used Before Date of APR14 16 – JUN30 16

Giant said it has received no reports of illnesses to date. However, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Customers who have purchased the recalled burgers and want a refund should bring their purchase receipt to any Giant store.
