Christ Lutheran of Lower Saucon Plans ‘Summerfest’

Est. Read Time: 2 mins

Christ Lutheran Church of Lower Saucon has held an annual community picnic for 70 years, but this year will bring some changes.

For starters, the event has been rebranded “Summerfest,” event chairman Dave Davis explained recently. The hope is that it will raise a significant amount of money to help pay for needed repairs to the church’s furnace.

Raffle tickets are being sold as a fundraiser for Summerfest, which will be held at Christ Lutheran Church of Lower Saucon on June 20.

Additional proceeds will be donated to the food banks at New Jerusalem Evangelical and Ebenezer New Reformed churches in Lower Saucon Township.

Summerfest will be held Saturday, June 20, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to  6 p.m. and will feature crafters, vendors, three live bands, games for kids and adults, bingo, a cake walk, food vendors and much more, according to a flyer Davis has prepared.

Another attraction will be a mock jail that attendees will be able to bail “community pillars” out of with their donations.

Summerfest organizers are currently seeking sponsorships for the event in several categories:

  • Diamond – $50
  • Sapphire – $30
  • Emerald – $10

Organizers are also selling $5 tickets for a drawing that will be held to win a quilt sewn by members of the church’s quilters group. Second, third and fourth place prizes of $500, $250 and $100, respectively, will also be drawn.

To purchase tickets, become a sponsor, or for more information, contact Davis at 610-570-7896 or Di******@ve*****.net. Checks should be made payable to CLCLS/Summerfest and mailed to Dave Davis, 231 W. Lehigh St., Bethlehem, PA 18018.

The church is located at 2190 Easton Road, Bethlehem.
