Although the residents of a home at 1509 Highland Drive in Lower Saucon Township escaped without injury when a fire broke out in their home early Monday morning, Se-Wy-Co Fire Co. officials said two vehicles in the family’s garage were destroyed by the blaze.
In a news release, Se-Wy-Co said the homeowner discovered the fire in an attached garage at 4:05 a.m. and immediately evacuated the rest of the family.
Se-Wy-Co responded to extinguish it, along with crews from Southeastern Fire Dept., Dewey Fire Co. No. 1, Upper Saucon Township, Nancy Run, Freemansburg, Eastern Salisbury and Springtown. EMS Support was provided by Dewey Fire Co. Ambulance Service and Bethlehem Township Fire Co. Ambulance, and the Lower Saucon Township Police Department was also on the scene.
According to the news release, the fire was contained to the garage and a firewall, but the home sustained smoke damage.
The residents of the home were provided clothing and a temporary place to stay by the local chapter of the American Red Cross.
Se-Wy-Co officials said the investigation into what started the fire is ongoing, but a preliminary investigation indicates that its origin appears to be accidental.
