A popular Saucon Valley restaurant is taking local takeout options to another level, by making ordering as easy as clicking through a few screens on your smartphone.
Ordering takeout food from Braveheart Highland Pub in Hellertown is a cinch with the restaurant’s customized app, powered by ChowNow. First-time users can log in using either a ChowNow account or their Facebook accounts. The ordering system is also accessible from the restaurant’s website. A one-time 10 percent discount is also available for first-time users for a limited time only.
Braveheart Highland Pub in Hellertown has created an app powered by ChowNow–a restaurant online ordering system that can also be accessed via the restaurant’s website by clicking on the red ORDER ONLINE button.
To download the app, search for “Braveheart Highland Pub” in either the App Store or the Google Play store on your phone, or text BRAVEHEART to 33733.
Once the app is installed, you’ll immediately have the option to order food for now or later. Orders can even be placed days in advance if desired.
Next, it’s time to choose which items you want to order from Braveheart’s menu of more than 50 Scottish and American favorites. Items are listed under the following categories: starters, soups & salads, Scottish fare, entrees, lite fare and kids menu.
Some items can be customized by quantity (e.g. Scottish eggs can be ordered as a single or double order) and special instructions can be added (e.g. “no salt”) if necessary.
Once you’ve added all your menu choices to your cart, it’s time to log in using either a Facebook account or a new or existing ChowNow account. After that, checkout is a breeze with either Google Wallet or a valid credit card number.
Traditional Scottish favorites like fish and chips can be ordered from Braveheart Highland Pub using the restaurant’s takeout app or website. Listed under Scottish Fare on the menu, this classic features tender cod filets fried in a crispy beer batter and served with cole slaw, french fries and tartar sauce (pictured substitution: ketchup).
As an added bonus for customers who take advantage of the new online ordering system, for a limited time Braveheart is offering 10 percent off first-time online or mobile orders, all day, every day (once per customer).
As with the app, ChowNow is easy to navigate on a desktop or laptop, where “group ordering” that allows for separate payment by multiple people in the same party is also possible.
Braveheart manager Jen German said the ordering system works smoothly and allows the restaurant’s kitchen to have takeout meals perfectly prepared and timed for pickup.
Although it utilizes newer technology, customers are eager to start using the online ordering system because of the convenience it offers–especially for busy families, she said.
Braveheart Highland Pub is located at 430 Main St., Hellertown, and opens daily at 11:30 a.m.
Kitchen closing times vary slightly from 9 p.m. on a Sunday to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, when a special late night menu is available from 10 to 10:30 p.m.
