A new car wash will soon open in the 1100 block of Main Street, Hellertown, at a location where several car washes–under names such as Tippy’s and Auto Lovers Car Wash–have briefly operated in recent years.
On Thursday, workers were busy making improvements to the newly-christened “Hellertown Auto Wash,” which is located at 1120 Main Street next to the borough’s former movie theater.
The 75-year-old theater building will soon be home to a dentist and a salon/day spa.
In an email to Saucon Source, Hellertown zoning and codes enforcement officer Kris Russo said the new life being breathed into the car wash is coming from property owner Paul Zullo.
Zullo, who also owns Rocco’s Pizza and Rita’s Italian Ice in the same block, “is now reopening the car wash under his own management and has installed a brushless auto wash system in the last bay,” Russo said.
“He has done some upgrading and renovation work to the site,” he confirmed.
A new roof has been installed on the four-bay building, and a colorful new sign is visible along the sidewalk in front of it.
Two other businesses with online listings as car washes are located in Hellertown: Sure Shine Car Wash at 303 Main St. and KARS Auto Detailing, 1301 Whitaker St.
