Flood Watch Issued, 2-4 Inches of Rain Possible

Father’s Day 2015 is likely to be a wet one.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for most of eastern Pennsylvania including the Lehigh Valley for Saturday evening through Sunday evening, when moisture from Tropical Storm Bill is forecast to move through the region.

According to a statement issued Friday, “heavy rainfall tied to the remnant moisture from Tropical Storm Bill is expected to occur across our region Saturday night through most of Sunday. Rainfall amounts between two to three inches, with locally higher amounts upwards of four inches, may cause flooding along area streams and creeks.”

River flooding is not forecast at this time, the weather service said.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
