Stephanie Sigafoos posted in the Hellertown, Pennsylvania Facebook group that she was running on the trail when she was approached by a bearded man on an old bicycle who made unwelcome remarks to her.

“He yelled at me, ‘You shouldn’t run alone. Just don’t know what would happen. It would be a shame,'” she said. “I stopped and said, ‘Excuse me?’ and he just smiled and said, ‘I know you heard me.'”

Sigafoos said she then continued down the trail to where there were other people, and turned around to see the man talking to another woman.

“At that point I turned back, ignored him when I passed him, stopped the girl and walked her back to her car,” she said. “I then went and talked to Officer Romig at Hellertown Police Department and told him. The cops are out looking for the guy.”

According to Sigafoos, police advised her that the man may be a resident of a group home on Front Street.

“Please beware and keep an eye out for this man,” she cautioned others.

The man was reported to be wearing tan shorts and a black shirt at the time of the incident.

Other members of the Facebook group told Sigafoos they were glad she reported it to the authorities.

Both borough and Lower Saucon Township Police patrol the popular Saucon Rail Trail, which extends for 6.85 miles from Bachman Street in Hellertown south to Southern Lehigh Living Memorial Park and the border between Coopersburg and Upper Saucon Township.
