UPDATE: Malnourished Dog Found in Box on Roadside Euthanized, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police want to identify the owner of a sickly pit bull they say was found in a cardboard box on the side of Valley View Road just off Lower Saucon Road at around 8 p.m. Friday, New Year’s Day.

UPDATE: Lower Saucon Police reported early Saturday that the pit bull found in a cardboard box was euthanized, after an examination by a veterinarian at Valley Central Animal Hospital determined “there was nothing they could do for him.” Police said in a news release the vet “suspected the dog contracted parvo due to neglect.”

Lower Saucon Township Police want to identify the owner of a sickly pit bull they say was found in a cardboard box on the side of Valley View Road just off Lower Saucon Road at around 8 p.m. Friday, New Year’s Day.

In a post on the LSTPD Facebook page, police said “the dog appears to be malnourished and dehydrated.”

The photos show the light brown and white pit bull lying on its side with ribs protruding through its fur coat.

Anyone with information about the dog should call township police at 610-317-6110 or Northampton County Dispatch at 610-330-2200.
