Teen Parked in Trailhead Lot Had Pot, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release Sunday that a teenage girl who was parked in the Reading Drive trailhead lot after hours was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana after she was allegedly found with the drug at 1:15 a.m. Dec. 19.

According to police, an officer on patrol observed the car parked in the lot–which is located along the Saucon Rail Trail and open from dawn till dusk–and went to check on its occupants to make sure they were alright.

Two boys were passengers in the vehicle, police said.

“As soon as contact was made with the female driver, the odor of burnt marijuana was detected,” the news release stated.

Police said a K9 search was then conducted, which led to the alleged discovery of the marijuana and paraphernalia.

After being arrested, the girl was released to her parents, they added.
