Police said Shelby Keeney, 23, of the 500 block of N. Seventh Street, was cited after she allegedly used a “spoofed telephone number” to harass a 45-year-old township woman Feb. 7.

“Shelby was warned about this behavior with the same family in 2014,” police said. “She was told (if there were) any future incidents that she would be cited.”

When Ofc. Jeremy Hantz called Keeney to tell her she was going to be cited for harassment following Sunday’s alleged incident, police said she cursed him out, hung up on him and then began sending text messages to him on his work cell phone–including one about where he should put the citation she’d been issued.

“Shelby was warned by the officer through a responding text message not to text the officer anymore or she would be charged with harassment,” the news release stated. Instead, she “sent five more messages that served no legitimate purpose” and was told that she was being cited for harassment again.

When Hantz told her that any additional text messages would result in additional charges, police said Keeney sent yet another text which resulted in a third citation for harassment.

At that point–after receiving three citations for harassment in a single night–police said Keeney finally “ceased communications.”
