Hellertown Police Monthly Report: February 2016

Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp III noted in his February report that the department did experience increased call volume compared to February 2015. The February report is the most recent available online.

The following statistics were shared in Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp’s monthly report for February 2016–the most recent report available on the borough’s website, where department reports are posted along with borough council meeting minutes.

During the month of February Hellertown Police:

  • Received 380 calls for service.
  • Responded to three theft, seven domestic/assault and seven traffic collision calls.
  • Issued 113 citations.
  • Filed 50 charges, including 19 charges for narcotics possession, seven for DUI, five for assault, five for theft, five for receiving stolen property and one for forgery.

Shupp noted in the report that the department did experience increased call volume compared to February 2015.

“As you can see we had a large amount of narcotics arrests last month,” he also noted, adding that police “have been able to plan and execute more (drug) task force operations due to (Northampton County District Attorney) Mr. (John) Morganelli releasing more funding to battle narcotics.”
