Richard W. Whitman Sr., 83, formerly of Bridgeton Township, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Phoebe Richland Health Care, Richlandtown.

Richard W. Whitman Sr., 83, formerly of Bridgeton Township, Bucks County, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Phoebe Richland Health Care, Richlandtown. He was the husband of the late Betty M. (Schaible) Whitman, who died Oct. 12, 2013. He was born in Wilson Borough on Aug. 21, 1932 to the late William H. Whitman and Charlotte (Mills) Whitman. Richard worked for James River Corporation, Milford, N.J., as a supervisor for 46 years. He served his country honorably during peacetime in the United States Navy. Richard was a member of Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church, Tinicum Township.

SURVIVORS

Children: Kathy L. (Thomas J.) Freier of Upper Black Eddy, Susan M. (John M.) Reiss of Hellertown, Patsy A. (Alan G.) Chambers of Upper Black Eddy, Richard W. Jr. (Michelle) of Bethlehem; sisters: Darlene W. Bittenmaster of Upper Black Eddy, Shirley A. (James) Pursell of Upper Black Eddy, Sharon (John) Solomon of Milford, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother: Charles A. Whitman.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Upper Tinicum Church Cemetery. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmanfh.com. The Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown, is in charge of arrangements.
