Irene L. ‘Rene’ Halfacre, 87, of Salisbury Township, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Irene L. “Rene” Halfacre, 87, of Salisbury Township, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.rene She was the wife of the late George “Fritz” Halfacre Jr., who died Sept. 27, 2015. She was born in Palmerton on April 5, 1929 to the late Charles and Rose (Oravec) Vlossak. Rene was a member of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Allentown. Rene loved everyone, her large extended family, her friends and all the coaches and players she met through Fritz. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rene attended Moravian College and was presently a volunteer at Lehigh Valley Hospital, and previously at St. Thomas More School. Throughout her lifetime she gave support and care to many of her loved ones, family and friends.

SURVIVORS

Loving children: Linda C. wife of Craig A. Medei Sr. of Bethlehem, Sandra wife of Frank Haas of St. Thomas, Roxanne Michels and her fiancé Gene Legath of Emmaus, Thomas Halfacre and his wife Donna of Coatesville; sister: Eleanor Riddle of Easton; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings: Joseph Vlossak, Honey McInerny and Barbara Rush.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown, and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. The calling hour Monday will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. The Rev. Msgr. John P. Murphy will be the celebrant. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
