A sign kiosk Lower Saucon Township officials recently received a grant for from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Main Street Foundation will help small local businesses advertise themselves and upcoming events to Saucon Rail Trail visitors.

Township manager Leslie Huhn said the sign will be placed at the Reading Drive trailhead, where it will be used to “promote area businesses, targeting smaller businesses who are less likely to have walk-in sales.”

“Advertising costs can be expensive, and the availability of some advertising or promotional space–such as (for) services to the community or events businesses participate in (i.e. Farmers’ Market, Community Day)–would help those small businesses save money,” she explained.

Huhn said the advertising space will be available for free.

“We are working on developing guidelines for submission requests and setting parameters for placing ads,” she said.

Huhn said the township will next be in touch with the Chamber Foundation about grant requirements for matching funds needed to help pay for the kiosk.

Once the kiosk is purchased, it will be installed by the township public works department, she said.
