Saturday was Week 9 for Saucon Valley youth football. This final week of the regular season had the Saucon Flags and 130’s travel to Southern Lehigh for home games against the Northwestern Lehigh Tigers. The 90’s and 110’s completed their regular season last week. The cheerleaders did not make the trip.

The Saucon Valley youth coaches have again volunteered to recognize the efforts of some of their boys participating on their teams with Panther Pride awards. This recognition is a fun and special way for the coaches to show their appreciation and gratitude for the hard work and dedication the boys invest in the football program. Saucon Source is proud to be partnering with the youth coaches and sharing these accomplishments with you!

Game Summary: The Panthers took on the undefeated Northwestern Lehigh Tigers at Southern Lehigh Saturday and felt the sting of defeat, 20-0. On a rainy and blustery day the defense did an admirable job against a very skilled and much bigger team. The defense, for the most part, played tough, scattering a handful of Tiger big plays. Unfortunately, those big plays resulted in scores. Other than the three scores, however, the Panthers shut down a very good team. Offensively, the Panthers could not overcome the size difference with their run game with any consistency. To make things more difficult it was very challenging to throw the ball with the wet and windy weather conditions. Nonetheless, the Panther players battled to the very end.

Next, the Saucon Valley Little Panther 110 team is playoff bound. The 110’s have earned the #3 seed and will battle Southern Lehigh (#6) at Salisbury on Sunday, Oct. 30. This looks like it will be an 11:30 a.m. kickoff.

The Panther 130’s also made the playoffs. The playoff bracket, however, is yet to be finalized. Saucon will enter the playoffs as either the 7th or 8th seed. Either way, the Panther 130’s will also play on Sunday. Kickoff should be at 1 p.m.

If the Panthers are the 7th seed they will travel to Bangor to face Bangor, who is the #2 seed. As a #8 seed, Saucon will travel to Wilson and take on the #1 Northwestern Lehigh Tigers again. The result of Sunday’s 130 match-up between Pen Argyl and Salisbury is the determining factor. A Pen Argyl victory bumps Saucon to the #8 seed. If Pen Argyl loses, the Panthers will be the #7 seed.

Good luck to all the Little Panther players and cheerleaders. The Source is with you!
