A former manager of the Pennsylvania Wine & Spirits Shoppe in the Creekside Marketplace shopping center on Rt. 412 in Lower Saucon Township was sentenced by Northampton County Judge Samuel Murray to one year of probation and will have to pay a $500 fine as well as undergo a drug addiction evaluation for stealing $4,200 from the store’s safe earlier this year, Lehigh Valley Live reported Monday.

According to their article, although Leon Lafevre, 53, of Easton, has paid back the money he stole out of his pension fund, he was denied entry into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program for first-time offenders, which will make finding employment in the future more difficult.

Lafevre blamed an addiction to opiates for his behavior, and said previously that the money he stole was used to buy heroin.
