Long before today’s high-tech campuses educated youngsters en masse, children across the Lehigh Valley and throughout the country were educated in small, simple buildings with few frills or modern conveniences.
The Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse, 4216 Countryside Lane, Hellertown, is a historic one-room schoolhouse in Lower Saucon Township. The school was restored by the township historical society and is on the National Register of Historic Places (FILE PHOTO).
