Eldon C. Ganssle, 88, of Hellertown died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at Phoebe Richland Health Care, Richlandtown. He was the husband of the late Marion M. (Posh) Ganssle (died March 1, 2016).

Eldon C. Ganssle, 88, of Hellertown died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at Phoebe Richland Health Care, Richlandtown. He was the husband of the late Marion M. (Posh) Ganssle (died March 1, 2016). He was born in Hellertown on Jan. 21, 1928 to the late Joseph F. and Mary E. (Nicholas) Ganssle. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Eldon was a bricklayer at the former Bethlehem Steel Co. for 38 years and 8 months until his retirement and had also worked for various contractors in the Lehigh Valley area. He was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown, and had sung on its choir and worked at the church during breakfasts and dinners. He also did brickwork for the church and school. He was also past secretary for five years with the Holy Name Society at the church and Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown.

SURVIVORS

Daughter: Bonnie L. Fiala of Bethlehem; siblings: Joseph F. Jr. (Bertha) of Easton, Howard F. (Dorothy) of Seidersville, Marie C. Applegate of Perkasie, Audrey T. (George) Cawley of Hellertown; grandchildren: Michele Fiala and Rachel (Russell) Johnson. He was predeceased by sons: Eldon Jr. & Joseph; siblings: L. Ralph, Helen Adamek, Wesley E., Regina and Raymond.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.
