The most asked question in Hellertown this fall has been “When will Crossroads reopen?”

The buzz began following news that the iconic restaurant and bar best known for its cheesesteaks and pizza was being sold by the Matey family to Nick Hano and Joseph Tulio. They also own the Wagon Wheel restaurant and bar near Quakertown, and said in September that the plan was to reopen Crossroads in October. After several rumored opening dates came and went, the new owners took to Facebook in early November to let eager area residents know that the restaurant would soon be open again.

On Monday, the owners of the renamed Hellertown Crossroads Hotel announced on their Facebook page that they will officially open their doors to the public this Thursday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m.

“We are eager to continue the Crossroads legacy and look forward to serving you soon,” the post states.

The new owners previously said they plan to keep the decades-old menu much as it was before the restaurant closed in the spring by following recipes the Mateys used.

Hellertown Crossroads Hotel’s new hours will be:

Monday: CLOSED
Tuesday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesday: 11:00 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The restaurant was formerly closed Sundays and open Mondays.

Another change is that all major credit cards will be accepted, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Takeout will still be available, according to the information posted on Facebook Monday.

Some former employees who were laid off when Matey’s Crossroads Hotel closed have reportedly returned to work under the new owners and have been busy readying the dining room, kitchen and bar area for the reopening and what will likely be a crush of returning patrons.

The Matey family had owned the restaurant since the 1950s and some employees had worked there for decades.

Crossroads Hotel is located at 1443 Main St., Hellertown. The restaurant’s phone number is 610-838-8278.
