Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township retailers are hoping you will make an effort to shop local on Black Friday, Nov. 25, and Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26.
What is Small Business Saturday?
Originally conceived by American Express as a way to promote shopping at local businesses, the event–which is always held the Saturday after Thanksgiving–has grown to encompass the “buy local” philosophy.
This year more local merchants and service providers than ever before will participate in Black Friday and Small Business Saturday by offering sales, discounts and activities to attract customers to their places of business and raise awareness of how much local businesses contribute to the economic vitality of Saucon Valley. It is also an opportunity to remind shoppers that if they don’t support local businesses, they may not be around next year to shop at.
Here is a list of some of the participating businesses and what they will be offering.

LOCAL EVENTS, DEALS AND DISCOUNTS
Doggy Dao & Cat’s Meow, 1238 Main St., Hellertown, will offer tiered savings on Saturday, Nov. 26, for Small Business Saturday. Spend $30, save $5 and receive a $5 coupon to use in December; spend $50, save $10 and receive a $10 coupon to use in December; spend $75, save $15 and receive a $15 coupon to use in December; spend $100, save $20 and receive a $20 coupon to use in December. Also enjoy snacks and free raffles.
Trendz of Saucon Valley, 758 Main St., Hellertown, will be running a special on Saturday, Nov. 26, for Small Business Saturday. Both Massage and Facial gift certificates will be $10 off. The salon will be open from 8 a.m. till 2 p.m. Stop by to pick up your gift certificates.
Hellertown Bakery, 612 Main St., Hellertown, will offer shoppers who spend a minimum of $10 their choice of a free cupcake, Friday through Sunday, Nov. 25-27.
Braveheart Highland Pub, 430 Main St., Hellertown, will have a gift card sale. Customers who spend $20 on a gift card will receive a $10 bonus gift card credit, up to a maximum spend of $200 (e.g., spend $200 and receive $100 in bonus value).
Bella’s Ristorante, 639 Main St., Hellertown, will kick off their annual holiday gift card sale on Friday, Nov. 25. Customers who purchase a $20 gift card and pay with cash will receive a $5 bonus gift card credit (not combinable with other offers).
Vassi’s Drive-In, 1666 Main St., Hellertown, will have a one-day gift certificate sale on Saturday, Nov. 26. Customers who purchase $20 in Vassi’s gift certificates will receive a $5 bonus gift certificate (not combinable with other offers).
Cheyenne Reiman, Realtor, Coldwell Banker Hearthside Realtors, 186 Main St., Hellertown, will offer home buyers their choice of a free home inspection or free home warranty when they purchase their home with her between Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, and March 31, 2017! *Minimum purchase price $150,000. Maximum reimbursement amount is $400.
ACR Lawn Services, Hellertown, will offer gift certificates at reduced rates. Spend $20 and receive a $25 gift certificate or spend $40 and receive a $50 gift certificate. Gift certificates have no expiration date and can be used at any time on any lawn services ACR offers, including grass cutting, trimming, edging, small tree/bush and brush removal, fall cleanups, leaf removal and small landscaping jobs. Saucon Valley Bikes, 824 Main St., Hellertown, will run a special sale from Friday, Nov. 25 through Saturday, Dec. 24. Customers who bring in 10 nonperishable food items to donate will receive 10 percent off their purchase (Giant bikes included). All food will be donated to the New Jerusalem Food Bank, which serves residents of the Saucon Valley area.
Kindred Spirits Books & Gifts, 66 W. Water St., Hellertown, will host a one-year anniversary party on Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., both days. Enjoy Black Friday specials Friday and Small Business Saturday specials Saturday. There will be light refreshments, door prizes, giveaways and demonstrations at Kindred Spirits and the store’s newly opened Sacred Space across the street (45 W.
