On the ninth day of showcasing Panther football record holders, Saucon Source wants to recognize senior Cody Zrinski.

Wearing #76, the 1st Team All Colonial League lineman on both offense and defense is listed at 6’4″, 315. Cody has also been named 1st Team All-State as an offensive tackle by Pennsylvania Football News. This past season on defense Cody is credited with 19 tackles and 8 assists. Two of those hits were for loss and 1.5 were quarterback sacks.

“King Kong” Cody stuffed many of his opponents’ gaps throughout the years and has been a big part of the Panther defense. Consequently, he is no stranger to the Saucon Valley football record books. First, in 2014 and 2015 Cody accumulated 38 and 49 tackle assists respectively which are good for the 9th and 3rd spots. Second, the 2015 season brought Cody 3.5 quarterback sacks that have landed him in the 6th spot. He also has 6.5 career sacks to his name that are good for 4th overall. Finally, Cody’s total of 97 tackle assists (2013-2016) secures the 2nd spot for career assists.

Who’s #1 for assisted tackles in a season? Christian Carvis (2015) gathered 82 assists.

Who’s #1 for sacks in a season? Kevin Branco (2003) is listed with 10 sacks in a season.

Who’s #1 for sacks for a career? Mike Kane (2012-2015) had 12 career sacks.

Who’s #1 for tackle assists in a career? Christian Carvis (2012-2015) had 129 career assists.

Cody said it: “My best Saucon Valley football memory is when Coach Evancho and I wrestled before two-a-day football practices.”

Coach Phil Sams said it: “Cody Zrinski is like a road grader. Many opposing players just ran away from him when he was blocking downfield and who can blame them? Cody started the season injured and by midseason got his groove back. He dominated the Colonial League on both sides of the ball.”

Congratulations, Cody, and best wishes in the future. The Source is with you!
