Charges have been filed against a Hellertown couple who police say were found to be in possession of various narcotics following their arrest in Giant Food Store, 1880 Leithsville Road, last summer, when Lower Saucon Township officers attempted to take the man into custody on an outstanding warrant.

According to a news release issued Monday, Jason Bauer, 36, of the 100 block of Main Street, was seen inside the supermarket by a Hellertown officer who recognized him as the subject of the warrant shortly after midnight Aug. 16.

When Lower Saucon officers subsequently arrived at the store and attempted to take Bauer into custody, they say Jennifer Bauer, 34, of the same address, “swung her fist at the Hellertown officer.”

Both were then taken into custody–Jason on the warrant and Jennifer for harassment–police said.

During a search of the Bauers, police said Jason was allegedly found to be in possession of heroin and methamphetamine as well as the prescription drugs Fentanyl and diazepam. Jennifer was allegedly found to be in possession of amphetamine, diazepam and temazepam.

According to police, the different drugs were confirmed by testing performed by Pennsylvania State Police at their Bethlehem laboratory.

Jason Bauer is charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance, drugs, device or cosmetic, police said.

Jennifer Bauer is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, drugs, device or cosmetic and one count of harassment, authorities said.
