Although Giant Food Stores is cutting hours at some of its other Northampton County supermarkets, the store at 1880 Leithsville Road in Lower Saucon Township will remain open 24 hours a day, a company representative confirmed Tuesday.

Lehigh Valley Live reported that Giant has decided to close some stores–such as ones on Linden Street in Bethlehem Township and Town Center Boulevard in Forks Township–from midnight to 6 a.m. as a result of customer shopping habits and internal operational assessments.

Company representative Samantha Krepps however said the store near Hellertown will not be shuttered during the overnight hours, which some Saucon Source readers said is when they prefer to shop there.

The Giant on Rt. 412, which opened in 2002 and was renovated in late 2014, is the only major supermarket located in Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township.
