The Panthers are on the loose!

On Sunday the Little Panthers travelled to Sailsbury to do battle with the Little Falcons. It was Week 6 of the Colonial League Youth Football League; the sixth week of eight regular season games.

This season the Saucon Valley youth coaches are, once again, recognizing the efforts of their boys and girls as they participate in the football and cheerleading experience. Saucon Source is proud to be partnering with the coaches to share the kids’ successes this season with you!

Football recognizes a player, or players, every week with a “Panther Pride” award. The cheer coaches choose deserving girls and identify them with a “Panther Spirit” award.

The recognition of the kids can relate to anything from effort or enthusiasm to the acknowledgement of a great performance. Maybe the award will be for being a good teammate or volunteering their time. It can be for any number of positive things!

The awards are meant to be a fun and special way for the coaches to show their appreciation for the hard work and dedication the boys and girls invest in the football and cheer programs.

Here we go with this week’s awards!

Panther Pride!

FLAGS

Game Summary:   The Flag team had a tough battle on Sunday against the Falcons but were up to the task. The team was led by Joey Basmagy and Xander Farkas. Joey has been solid all year at his offensive tackle position and that held true again as he walled off the defenders from penetrating the backfield all game. Xander Farkas had another great game on both sides of the ball. He had great downfield blocking from his wingback position and had a nice 50 yard touchdown run! On defense he was all over the field pulling Falcon flags. As a team, Coach Peters reports, “We continue to improve every week and are up to the task of taking on any opponent that comes our way.”

Keep up the great work, Flags!

90 POUNDERS

Game Summary: Panthers Noah Hubert and Brady Rohn led the way into the endzone and secured another Saucon victory.   The Panthers defeated the Falcons 27-12.  While Hubert and Rohn may have scored the points for the Panthers it was a total team victory.  Coach Hill praised his entire squad, in particular the subs, for stepping up and playing Saucon style football.  Panther Pride!

110 POUNDERS

Game Summary:  The Panther defense was strutting its stuff in the 110 game as they pitched an 18-0 shutout against the Falcons.  Leading the defensive effort was Gino Keren with, not one, but, two interceptions! Offensively, Saucon scored on touchdown runs (65 yds. and 30 yds.) from Andrew Gilbert.  In addition, Eli Torres caught a 9-yard TD pass from Gilbert on a “toss pass”.

It was another great day for the Panthers as they are getting primed for the homestretch of this 2017 season.

130 POUNDERS

Game Summary: The Panther 130’s overcame a sluggish start to remain unbeaten with a 19-0 shutout victory over the Salisbury Falcons.  Paced by the tough running of Josh Torres on offense and the hard hitting of Julian Newhart on defense, the Panthers improved to an impressive 6-0 record.  Daniel “Lunch-Pail” Lanning was also pointed out by the 130’s coaching staff for his workman-like efforts.  “He is not flashy. He just goes about his business and does his job well.”, praised Coach Schneider.

The Panther 130’s head for a showdown with unbeaten Williams Township on Sunday.  Best of luck guys!
