Saucon Valley wrestling played host to the Notre Dame Crusaders on Thursday night. With a total of five forfeits awarded, only nine matches were actually wrestled. Of the nine, the Panthers won just three. However, four Crusader forfeits to Saucon Valley helped pave the way to a 38-31 victory for the Panthers.
Because of their inability to field a complete lineup, Notre Dame surrendered wins to Josh Jones (126), Jason Jones (145), Thomas Spirk (160) and Dane Csencsits (195). With the forfeits, the Crusaders conceded 24 points to the Panthers. In exchange, Saucon gave six points back with a forfeit of their own (113).

Saucon Valley received bonus points from junior Jarret Hirschbeck (182) who decked his opponent, Liam Carroll. Hirschbeck was credited with a takedown and two near-fall points before finishing the job in 2:28.
With a 22-7 tech-fall, senior Angelo Mahaffey (152) earned an additional five points for his team. Mahaffey worked hard for eight takedowns on his way to victory. The only points his opponent was awarded, were escape points that Mahaffey gave him.

The only other Panther points registered on the scoreboard came from junior, Justin Kyra (138). Kyra used three takedowns, a reversal and a couple of escapes to hold off junior Nicholas Vonelli who was a PIAA (AA) state qualifier last season.

Notre Dame received their points from a Panther forfeit (113), two pins (106, 120), a major-decision (170) and three decisions (132, 220, 285).
