Driving Overweight Truck Leads to Man’s Arrest on Warrant, Police Say

A drive down a borough street with a six-ton weight restriction led officers to stop a man and subsequently cite him as well as arrest him on an outstanding warrant, Hellertown borough police said in a news release Wednesday.

According to police, Darius Marcel Davis, 24, of Trout Run, Lycoming County, was stopped while driving a a box truck in the 700 block of Northampton Street at approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said it was then learned that Davis was wanted on an active bench warrant.

Authorities didn’t say what the warrant is for, or which agency issued it.

Davis was remanded in custody and jailed at Northampton County Prison, police said, adding that he also received a traffic citation for allegedly driving a vehicle that was 5,000 pounds overweight on the restricted roadway.
