Saucon Valley softball player Jaclyn Barbera had an awesome game Monday night against the visiting Lehighton Indians. Only a freshman, Barbera accounted for five runs batted in including a line shot Grand-Slam homerun over the left-field fence. Barbera was 3 for 4 on the night and led her team to a 12-2 mercy-rule victory over the Lehighton Indians.
Rachel Schoch also had a good night at the plate for the Panthers. The sophomore hit the ball hard going 2 for 3.
Saucon senior pitcher Meghan Okken scattered seven hits throughout five innings. Okken is a workhouse on the mound for the Panthers and did not give up any earned runs against the Indians.
The Panthers are proving to be very competitive this season and are looking to ride Monday night’s momentum into a home showdown with the Colonial League leading Bangor Slaters on Tuesday.
“It was an exciting win and we are now feeling confident that we can play hard and beat Bangor”, offered Saucon Valley head coach Scott Didra. “The keys to victory are to keep our bats hot and make the plays defensively.”
UP NEXT: Coach Didra’s Panthers will host the division leading Bangor Slaters tomorrow at 4:15 p.m.
Good Luck Panthers, the Source is with you!
