The brave service of those who have given their lives in defense of the United States was honored at a Memorial Day service hosted by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 at Union Cemetery of Hellertown Sunday.

The brave service of those who have given their lives in defense of the United States was honored at a Memorial Day service hosted by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 and presided over by Legion Commander Eric Medei at Union Cemetery of Hellertown Sunday.

The 2 p.m. ceremony featured guest speakers including Hellertown Mayor David Heintzelman and State Rep. Robert Freeman, readings, music, the laying of wreaths at the cemetery war memorial and an honor guard salute.
