Township manager Leslie Huhn said James Young has 13 years of experience as a zoning officer and building code official.

A Saucon Valley graduate, Young will be paid an annual salary of $67,000 and will start June 25.

Young replaces Chris Garges, who resigned his position as township zoning officer earlier this year and is now township manager for Hanover Township, Lehigh County.

Young was not in attendance at Wednesday’s council meeting, but Huhn said he will be at council’s July 18 meeting. The meeting that was scheduled for July 4 has been canceled as it falls on the Independence Day holiday.

Township council meetings are normally held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Lower Saucon Town Hall, 3700 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem.
