Cash Donation Boxes Stolen from Church, Police Say

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who is suspected of stealing at least two metal cash donation boxes from the sanctuary of a local church.

Police Thursday released this surveillance image of the man suspected of stealing at least two metal cash boxes from Assumption BVM Church in Upper Saucon Township Tuesday.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who is suspected of stealing at least two metal cash donation boxes from the sanctuary of a local church.

The theft occurred Tuesday, shortly after noon, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Assumption BVM) Church, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem.

The church is located in Upper Saucon Township but the case is being publicized by the Lower Saucon Township Police Department via a post Thursday on their new Crimewatch website.

“The suspect was wearing tan shorts and a blue and white polo shirt with the letters ‘rkl’ printed on the front and the number ’26’ on the back,” Lower Saucon police said in their post, which is accompanied by church surveillance photos of the suspect.

“It is believed the suspect may have arrived at the church in a silver or gray crossover-style vehicle,” police added.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Upper Saucon Township Police Department at 610-282-1080 or to submit a tip through the Lower Saucon Township Police Department Crimewatch page.
