Matthew J. Makos Sr., 93, of Bethlehem, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 at the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Rita P. (Beardsworth) Makos, who died Oct. 14, 2005. He was born in Bethlehem on Nov. 19, 1924 to the late Mathias and Anna (Donchez) Makos. Matthew served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Frank Casilio & Sons Inc. and The Sheesley Co. for 41 years as a truck driver and equipment operator. He was a member of the Teamster Local #773 of Allentown, the MORA Club and the E.Z. Mart Political Group. Matthew was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Children: Matthew J. Jr. of Bethlehem, Patricia A. (Robert R.) Bartholomew of Williams Township, Marie Makos (Leonard) Reph of Allentown, Marilyn (Stephen) Albert of Indiana, Pa.; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; loving companion: Violet Kies of Bethlehem. He was predeceased by siblings: Joseph, Aurelia, John, Margaret, Mary and Anna.
SERVICE
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a service at 11 a.m. The interment will be held at the Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
