Joan A. Jones, 86, of Hanover Township, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.

Joan A. Jones, 86, of Hanover Township, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late Richard H. Jones Jr., who died May 12, 1998. She was born in Bethlehem on Jan. 8, 1932 to the late Raymond H. and Mary (Garland) Lobach. Joan taught at the former Fountain Hill High School, where she was also a basketball coach. She also taught at Wilson Borough High School and in the Bethlehem Area School District. She was a substitute teacher during the time she was raising her daughters. Joan was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bethlehem, serving on the Vestry and in several ministries within the church. She was also a member of Northeast Ministries, Daughters of the King Chapter (also President) and the Penn State Alumni Association. She was a lifetime member and past treasurer of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She was a life-long registered voter.

SURVIVORS

Daughters: Anne E. (Douglas) Beekman of Putney, Vt., Mary K. (Antonio) Macri of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., Margaret L. (Melvin) Bachman of Bethlehem; siblings: Betty Jane (Ervin) Keel of Jupiter, Fla., Raymond “Tim” C. (Connie Kassir) of Annapolis, Md.; grandchildren: Brendan, John, Spencer, Samuel, Christian; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother: John Charles.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 E. Market St., Bethlehem. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
