Joseph A. Moughan, 83, formerly of Hellertown, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at Phoebe Healthcare Center, Richlandtown. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.

Joseph A. Moughan, 83, formerly of Hellertown, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at Phoebe Healthcare Center, Richlandtown.moughan He was the husband of the late Mercedes A. (Machain) Moughan, who died Jan. 1, 2018. They were married for 54 years. Joseph was born in Pittston, Pa., on Feb. 16, 1935 to the late Joseph and Nora (Best) Moughan. He worked as a purchasing agent for Air Products until his retirement. Prior to that he had worked for the CIA in Virginia. He also worked as a bartender for the former Bethlehem Steel Club in Hellertown and the Tally Ho Tavern in Bethlehem. Joseph served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during peacetime. He was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown. He also was a member of the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown, and he was a social member of the Dewey Fire Company, Hellertown.

SURVIVORS

Children: Christopher J. (Lisa J.) Moughan of Hellertown, Tara M. (Miguel A.) Moughan Nieto of Fountain Hill, Marlee Wilson of Hellertown; grandchildren: Andrew J. Nieto, Connor P. Moughan, Liam J. Moughan, Madison S. Wilson, Aidan J. Wilson, Maya C. Nieto and Sofia C. Nieto. He was predeceased by a son: Sean; and a sister: Marilyn Baccanari.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour Saturday morning will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will be held privately at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.

CONTRIBUTIONS

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Theresa School Scholarship Fund, 300 Leonard St., Hellertown, PA 18055.
