Two Montgomery County men are facing forgery charges after police say they were allegedly found counterfeiting currency in a Quakertown borough motel room Jan. 20.

Quakertown police posted on their Crimewatch website Friday that Matthew Randel Geissler, 36, of Harleysville, and Michael J. Sewak, 31, of Telford, were arrested after they received a report of “subjects inside a room making counterfeit currency” at the Econo Lodge, 1446 W. Broad St.

Both men are charged with Felony 2 forgery, Felony 2 conspiracy to commit forgery, Misdemeanor 1 conspiracy-possession of an instrument of crime with intent, Misdemeanor 1 conspiracy to commit theft by deception, Misdemeanor 1 theft by deception, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor receiving stolen property and summary retail theft.

According to court records, Sewak was initially committed to the Bucks County Correctional Facility following a preliminary arraignment before District Judge Lisa Gaier Jan. 21. He is free on an unsecured nonmonetary bond after his bail was reduced from 10 percent of $70,000 to nothing by a court order issued Jan. 23, and he posted his own surety, records indicate.

As of Saturday Geissler remained confined at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $7,000 bail after his initial bail was also reduced from 10 percent of $70,000 by a Jan. 23 court order, court records state.

Both men have preliminary hearings before Judge Gaier scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 31.
