PennDOT said Thursday that area motorists should expect to encounter “significant delays” on I-78 in Lower Saucon Township over the next week for nighttime road work that will be taking place beginning Friday, March 15.

Delays will result from lane restrictions that will be put in place while a PennDOT contractor performs bridge dam repairs between the Rt. 33 and Rt. 412 exits.

The repairs will affect westbound traffic along that stretch of interstate from 7 p.m. through 6 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Eastbound traffic will be affected Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

“Please use caution driving through the work zone,” PennDOT advised. “Through traffic may use Rt. 33 north and Rt. 22 west as an alternate route.”
